The San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program is proudly owned by The San Francisco Firefighters Local 798. We believe that no child should be without a toy during the holiday season. In time of loss due to fire, our firefighters are the ones who see first-hand, the devastation when a child is left without a favorite toy. Donations of toys are graciously accepted throughout the year at any San Francisco firehouse.
Our program is run strictly on donations to ensure that proceeds go to the children at Christmas time. Monetary and toy donations are tax deductible. The San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program is a non-profit 5O1C3 organization.
The San Francisco Firefighter’s Toy Program is the cities largest and the nation’s oldest program of its kind. Since 1949, it has evolved from a few firefighters repairing broken toys and bikes for 15 families to, in 2021, 300 firefighters and friends volunteering their time to distribute over 200,000 toys to more than 40,000 disadvantaged children. Besides helping individual families in need, the Toy Program serves many community organizations, including shelters for abused women and children, inner-city schools, children’s cancer wards, and pediatric AIDS units. We also respond on a year round basis to displaced children who become victims of fires, floods and other such disasters.
Dependent solely on donations, the Toy Program places collection barrels at retail establishments, street fairs, Christmas parties and many other functions. If you are interested in having a toy collection barrel at your place of business you can order it online and you will receive a confirmation within 24hrs
Invite us to your Holiday Party –The holiday season is a time when friends gather to celebrate and offer a bit of Yuletide cheer. Many have made it a tradition to invite The San Francisco Firefighter's Toy Program to their parties. Everyone on the guest list is encouraged to bring a gift or monetary donation in support of the Toy Program and, our firefighters are on hand to collect them. Toy Guidelines- toys must be unwrapped, we serve ages infant through 12. Our biggest need is girls, ages 8 through 12. Some ideas are sports equipment, ball, art and crafts, games.
